I think you are wrong about Bolton. He re-ignited the witness thing by shooting his mouth off a few days before the “trial”. He knew it would so I believe he is up to no good.

While it would be satisfying on many levels to see s’hitt, the w’blower and others as witnesses, it is what the rats want. Sara Carter suggested that the reason the rats brought up the bidins was to sucker the GOP, to call them as witnesses.
The only reason the rats want witnesses is to continue the trial for weeks, if not months. Then the media can cover impeachment well into the election cycle. This does not help Trump or down ballot GOP.
I hope they acquit on Fri so that Lindsay can do his job for once.
