The story is unclear and is maybe leaving something out. It says the couple was recently married but had lived in Australia for several years after immigrating separately. It’s not clear if they had been living together. If so, it may be that the arranged marriage was a matter of legitimating a longstanding relationship. That opens the question of what role traditionalist relatives back home might have played. The story also says that the husband walked to the local police station covered in blood and turned himself in. I can imagine several different scenarios, none of them justifying the killing but perhaps putting a different light on it.
