Downing Street received a delivery of English sparkling wine today as the Queen rubber-stamped Boris Johnson's Brexit Bill into law.
Parliament finally gave its formal backing to the European Union Withdrawal Agreement Bill last night.
The draft legislation, which is needed to ensure the UK's departure from the bloc is an orderly one, was then sent to the Queen to be given Royal Assent.
Royal Assent from the monarch is the last stage a bill must pass in order to make it onto the statute book.
Now that it has been given, the so-called WAB is officially an Act of Parliament.
It means the UK is now guaranteed to leave the EU on January 31 at 11pm after more than three years of torturous wrangling over Britain's divorce from Brussels.
The announcement of Royal Assent was made in the House of Commons by deputy speaker Nigel Evans shortly after 2.30pm this afternoon.
He interrupted proceedings and said: 'Royal Assent. I have to notify the House in accordance with the Royal Assent Act 1967 that Her Majesty has signified her Royal Assent to the following act: European Union Withdrawal Agreement Act 2020.'

Ping.
Hoping that Boris and President Trump get together soon for a great Trade Deal....one that will make the EU throw up.
That was easy (/sarcasm)
A one year transition period now follows to work out the UKs post-Brexit relationship with the EU.
Well it’s about time. Congrats, Brits!
Use strongbow cider.

I visited the UK twice in my life. Strongbow cider is fantastic. Especially if it’s hand pulled at the bar.
Cheers, Mates, and goodonya, Boris ! !
You can get it here now. Dunno if it’s as good as the domestic stuff.

Congrats to the Brits. Sorry about July 4th, 1776, but things got out of hand.
The wines are probably nasty, way too sweet. But the other good sparkling wine producers (in France and Spain) dont seem to be making any offers to GB, either because of their ideology or because of their incompetence.
IS IT OVER????!
Picked up some bubbly from Kent while on a business trip years ago and served it at a party. It was no Pol Roger but still pretty good.
I’ve had it here. It’s still pretty good. Though I’ve given up drinking.
The Brits get on board with a great trade deal with the USA and they once again become the leading European powerhouse. And it wont take long.
Their unemployment rate is now at about 3.9 percent. The lowest in abt 50 years.
You all realize that the Brits are the only ones who paid us back totally for the WW2 and post WW2 loans we gave them?
The last of the payments were around the 07-09 period.
Those are the ones we need to deal with. They pay their bills.
It would have been a nice gesture to invite Theresa May to that ceremony, but she might still be bitter at Boris quickly succeeding where she floundered for two or three years.
