I wonder, two things:

Have the democrats driven up the ticket requests to provide the Trump campaign with false information?

Why would the Trump campaign spend any money on NJ if the state wasn’t in play?

Psyops. Trump is "crazy" (so the Dems think) but he beat Hillary. DNC operatives are also seeing this and likely fearing that Trump's campaign sees something they don't see.

This rally will undoubtedly draw scarce DNC resources to what should be a shoe-in Dem win.

It's a wise move.

NJ may be lost but there are house seats in play. 100k requests in NJ Hmm..I think that at some point the rats are going to make a hard effort to sabotage one of these events because it has to be driving them crazy how successful they are. I hope they are screening these people carefully the more likely Trumps re-election becomes the more dangerous it’s going to get, these are vicious evil people.

I doubt the Dems could artificially drive up the numbers that high. Maybe a few thousand, but not 100K.

Trump wants to drive up the popular vote and help flip some House seats back.

I lived in NJ for many years. Wildwood is not terribly far from the Philly suburbs. One could take the ferry from Delaware and the Maryland Eastern shore, along which there are some more conservative populations. Long Islanders and people from Staten Island like to go to the Jersey Shore for long weekends; there are also conservative populations there.

Some of the more moderate people in the middle and northern parts of New Jersey may just be getting tired of Leftist policies, especially those who work in Manhattan. They may head down.

While Trump is not going to win NJ, halving the losing margin from what it was in 2016 will get him bragging points.

A huge crowd will scare the Dems. While you never know what kind of coastal winter storm may occur, usually the shore towns like Wildwood are warmer in the winter than interior, although if it is windy, that can be a problem. Still, it will probably be not as cold as Toledo was for those stuck outside. And there are plenty of bars and family friendly restaurants in Wildwood. I don’t know how many are open that time of year, though.

Wildwood is not far from Atlantic City. I’m sure the hotels are happy. Wildwood itself has a lot of lodging.

The NJ transit rail may serve Wildwood; it does serve nearby shore towns, so there’s another transportation option.

A lot of the 100K may be people looking to kill two birds with one stone- they want to be present for a Trump rally, even if they can’t get in, and they want an excuse for some time at the Jersey shore.

The shore area businesses could use an unexpected influx of people in the winter. They are still recovering from Sandy.

Just as many people from PA/Philly metro are likely to attend as Jerseyites.

This is made-to-order propaganda for switching to the GOP.

People love this kind of story. Trump wants to help other Dems all over the country to see the light, so he is riding on this great opportunity and using the media uproar, and also of course helping this new New Jersey partner who will in turn help keep America great.

Every state is in play.

All Trump has to do is exceed the last National Popular Vote by 3 million.

If he does that, he will automatically get the Electoral Votes of CA, WA, OR, CO, IL, and a dozen or so other "blue" srates whose idiotic legislatures voted to assign their state's EVs to the winner of the popular vote.

Trump may very likely sweep ALL the EVs in the nation.

EVERY VOTE COUNTS THIS TIME!

Jeff Van Drew flipped parties from (D) to (R) over impeachment. This is his district, Trump is doing it as a thank you.
