Michael Bloomberg Blocks Video Of Pro-Gun Control Talk From Being Published (FLASHBACK)

Former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg has successfully blocked video from a controversial talk he gave at the Aspen Institute last week from being posted online.

At the Institute’s Feb. 5 event, the pro-gun control multi-billionaire suggested keeping guns out of the hands of young, male minorities.

Ninety-five percent of murders are attributed to the group, said Bloomberg, who has spend tens of millions of dollars on various gun control initiatives, including the group Everytown for Gun Safety.

“These kids think they’re going to get killed anyway because all their friends are getting killed,” Bloomberg said at the summit. “They just don’t have any long-term focus or anything. It’s a joke to have a gun. It’s a joke to pull a trigger.”

Various national media outlets jumped on the pointed comments, for both the pro-gun control sentiment and the racial aspect.

Perhaps because of that response, Bloomberg, who founded the massive Bloomberg L.P. media empire, has asked both the Aspen Institute and GrassRoots TV, the company that filmed the event, to refrain from broadcasting footage of the talk, according to The Aspen Times.

He’s basically saying what others merely think. I’m surprised he hasn’t been un-personed over this. The reality is that for out-of-the-blue murders (i.e. not acquaintances, relatives or friends over personal or business disputes), you are far more likely to be killed by a black person than a white one.

I don’t think it’s accurate because there’s no way Hispanics and whites combined commit fewer than 5%... what with MS13 and the drug cartels.

I think Hispanics would be included in “young male minorities”. But Hispanics and blacks make up about 30% of the US population and young minority males would be less than 10% of the total population.

I think the figure is more like 1/2 to 2/3 of murders, which is still an impressive percentage. But I’m pretty sure Bloomberg’s 95% is too high.

Right. Because, you know, there's no such thing as a black or Hispanic kid under 26 who isn't a thug. I recall serving with a lot of very fine minority kids. But then, I didn't spend my entire life in NYC as a putz.

Here's something from Wikipedia that looks about like stats I've heard in the past.

In 2013, African Americans accounted for 52.2% of all murder arrests, with Whites 45.3% and Asians/Native Americans 2.5%. Of the above, 21.7% were Hispanic.[52][53]

That indicates that minorities of all ages commit about 76% of murders, so Bloomberg's statement is far off the mark, even though the actual facts are more than bad enough.

This is one of those things that should make him complete toast as a candidate. It is inarguably racist to argue that some people shouldn't be entitled to exercise a constitutional right simply because of their race.

If I were Trump, I'd pay whatever I needed to get that video, and then run those ads everywhere Bloomberg is running his anti-Trump ads. Should be worth a chuckle.

Do you think Democrat P:residential Candidate Bloomberg should be allowed to suppress the video of him advocating keeping guns out of the hands of minorities, an echo of the Democrats in 1920 and in 1870?

That question should dominate polls pushed in all media, Black dominated, white dominated and mass media. That question should be asked by everyong at the Virginia events. That question should be asked of Virginia politicians. It should be asked on the floor of the Virginia legislature and on the floor of every place with an audience.

Make the question go viral. Tie 2020 Democrats to the politics of 1920 Democrats and 1870 Democrats.

Nationwide, according to FBI statistics, it's around 51%, but he may be thinking of NYC, where the minority population is higher. Still, 95% seems high.
