A Portland U.S. Bank employee said she was fired after giving $20 of her own money to a customer who was broke and stranded at a gas station on Christmas Eve.I missed that. However, my point stands that even if it had been the bank's money, it was inappropriate response to what amounted to a minor violation that was done as an act of kindness to someone and not to the direct benefit of the employee.
