To me the impossibility of bringing back the feathers compares to the impossibility of bringing a slander back. Once out in the world, it just keeps going.
It seems that way, yet it is up to good men to overcome it than to do nothing. We live in an era of slanders and false accusations. It is time for good men (and women) to pray to God to overcome and to walk in His power to do so.
That is the point, and why in the Bible slander is as the sin of murder as you, (kill intentionally), your victims character and name.
Like a forest fire, the damage carries beyond the original match. It is also why not bearing false witness is one of the ten commandments.
