Actor Joaquin Phoenix spoke at actress's Jane Fonda's weekly climate change protest outside of the Capitol building on Friday and expressed sadness that he's unable to avoid activities that contribute to climate change.
"Something that I think isn't oftentimes talked about in the environmental movement or in the conversation about climate is that the meat and dairy industry is the third leading cause of climate change," Phoenix said. "I think sometimes we wonder what can we do in this fight against climate and there is something you can do today right now and tomorrow by making a choice what you consume."
"I struggle so much with what I can do [to combat climate change] at times. There are things that I can't avoid I flew a plane out here today, or last night rather. But one thing that I can do is change my eating habits and so I just want to urge all of you to join me in that," he continued.

FUJP. I’ll eat whatever the hell I want!
I've identified the problem.
If meat eaters acted like vegans: https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=&v=z0O_VYcsIk8
They’ll never pry my pork and lamb hamburger from my hands - never.
As we all know, these folks don’t include themselves in what they want for us.
Assuming he was in the US prior to going to Washington, he could indeed have avoided flying. Drive, take a bus, even take a train!
He can stop eating meat if he wants to; I truly don’t care what he does. I just don’t believe that playing make-believe and dress-up for a living gives him any right to tell the rest of us what to do.
Why can’t you avoid flying, Jokin????
Nobody puts a gun to your head and forces you to get on a plane...
You stop eating meat...OK... Now, beef cattle population expands greatly and cow farts are more than tripled...How does THAT help your environment???
Just admit it, Jokin...You have no clue what you are talking about...You are a complete idiot...
Shouldnt he do both? And also skip baths.
Plus, we've been making them for more than 100 years. We have enough movies now Waqueen. You could rake leaves or bag groceries instead.
To paraphrase obxxx: “Sooner or later you’ve made enough movies.”
Juaqueen...Eat sh**. PETA making a movie they want you to star in?
I’m for Climate Change. I don’t want to fight it.
Climates are supposed to change.
Gonna be changing a bunch at our place most of next week. A LOT!
Since I am close to eating nothing but veggies and fruits, I will happily take my long haul flights in good conscience.
*If Phoenix’s reasoning is good enough for the left (no matter how ridiculous it is), I’m taking it. /s
Joaquin Phoenix asswipe.
Great idea! With fewer animals to graze down rangeland maybe the Australian fires would have burned faster and might be over by now.
Odd how people are OK with the idea of twice as many buffalo roaming the earth than cattle. Both are ruminants.
Of course, this whole thing has absolutely nothing to do with the environment; it’s back door socialism.
I have been on the sets of movies and tv shows (back when I was working as an extra here in Los Angeles.) Talk about a carbon footprint... there are so many cables running on the floors and huge lights, so many personnel being fed and transported around, hundreds of them... all those trailers for all those actors and stuntmen, and crew. Huge white vans full of massive electricity-gulping equipment... camera rigs on tracks and cranes... every movie is probably the equivalent of a 747 taking off every hour it’s filming.
LOL, excellent.
It’s the little people who need to change their ways.
Don't forget to use Barbados lamb -- delicious!
