CNN’s decision to settle a multimillion-dollar defamation lawsuit filed by Covington Catholic High School student Nick Sandmann has resulted in a bizarre feud between some of the Covington students' high-powered attorneys.
The settlement between CNN and Sandmann has reignited another lawsuit, filed last year by attorney Robert Barnes, who represents 10 Covington students, but not Sandmann.
Barnes’ clients have chosen to remain anonymous and are referred to as John Does 1 through 10 in the complaint obtained by Fox News. Barnes claims his clients’ lives were forever changed when various celebrities and public figures “called for the kids to be named and shamed, doxxed and expelled” following the viral footage's release and coverage.
Sandmann and his classmates were famously swept up in a controversy after a video clip depicted the "MAGA" hat-wearing student smiling at Native American Nathan Phillips, who was beating a drum and singing a chant as he was surrounded by Sandmann's peers, who had joined in on the chant in front of the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.
Several mainstream media outlets, including CNN, portrayed the incident with Sandmann and the other teens as being racially charged before additional footage surfaced and showed that a group of Black Hebrew Israelites had provoked the confrontation by slinging racial slurs at the students.
The complaint filed by Barnes accuses Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Rep. Deb Haaland, CNN’s Anna Navarro, The New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman, comedian Kathy Griffin, ABC analyst Matthew Dowd and activist Shaun King, among others, of defaming Covington students. One of the liberal personalities named in the complaint is former CNN host Reza Aslan, who tweeted an image of Sandmann with the caption, “Honest question. Have you ever seen a more punchable face than this kid’s?”

From what I gather two sep suits.
One for Sandmann by his lawyer...which was settled. One by Barnes representing 10 other Covington students which seems to be ongoing.
I have little doubt other students were hurt/defamed/harassed. NS was the main recip of the frenzied media-driven vitriol, though.
I wonder if there’s some law where if you don’t pay up your assets can be seized; lock out CNN until they pay.
Prayers ALL Covington students can retire before they’re 18 years old...
Definition of lawyer: A man who gets you the money you deserve, then keeps it for himself.

What a bizarre article. Almost 30 years before the bar and I can’t tell what is going on here. If Sandmann thinks he’s being misrepresented as being part of a lawsuit he should be able to either file some sort of disclaimer in the case or, if necessary, seek to intervene for the same purpose. Why whatever this strange thing is being fought out on Twitter is beyond me
Sandman is the one defamed by face and by name. No one knows or remembers the faces or names of any of the other kids.

I don’t care if these lawyers fight among themselves - I just care that they collectively tear the MSM a new one.

This Barnes guy, a lawyer, is representing the other kids, not Sandmann. But he’s using Sandmann’s name to make his case. So Sandmann is calling him on it.
This is opportunistic lawyer inside baseball.
I’m glad they settled with Sandmann. I hope he got a good sum. Now I hope other individuals are gone after. If you are in the public sphere aka media you need to be darn careful about inciting hatred and violence. Maybe a few of those bucket mouths will think twice now.
I still can’t believe how the racist, black hebrew Israelites came out of this smelling like a rose and unscathed, considering they STARTED the entire thing.
