Just about every state in the union could or should split in two between urban and rural - Virginia just stands out because it transitioned from reliably Republican to Democrat because of a shift towards a more urban demographic.

Red state/blue state is a myth. Big cities in Texas are more liberal than small towns in upstate New York or in central Pennsylvania.
