From the comments at the link the original report said they were outside of Macy’s not in the mall. Commenters were saying this isn’t the first time there fake news local paper twisted words. I believe that is why the authority said the man would not be charged... he wasn’t in the gun free zone.

Instead of pulling the gun and being potentially charged with brandishing, perhaps informing the libtard that you are armed would be sufficient.

He did not get charged, in spite of his committing a technical trespass by carrying into the “gun-free zone” at the mall. That is good. I cannot blame him for carrying wherever he goes. “Gun-free zones” are disasters waiting to happen, IMO.

Does PA ban carry in some way at malls? I know most in Texas (the malls themselves, not the government) technically ban it, but they don't post signs on every entrance (or really any entrance), so you can carry around as much as you want, security will just ask you to leave at some point.

Mixed here. Without all the facts I am hesitant but as a general thing I am against “showing” some one a weapon. If you had a reason to get it out you had a reason to use it and the two should not be “separate” decisions. That sort of stuff gets you killed.

Or, more often, that sort of stuff forces the bad guy to de-escalate and saves you from having to spend months fighting the cops to get your gun back. If you're lucky enough for them to decide it was a 'good shoot' and don't arrest/charge you.

NRA-ILA has their Armed Citizen series, with plenty of stories of people being saved without even firing a shot.

And, if you read any of John Lott's stuff, he has an estimate of ~2MM defensive gun users per year, and 98% of those were reported as simply brandishing/non-shooting uses. Even using the anti-gun folk's low estimate of 430M uses per year, that's still hundreds of thousands of non-shooting defensive situations.

Almost no one wants to actually shoot someone, and many people probably aren't psychologically prepared to do so, unless circumstances desperately require it.

OK, one more time, for the folks in the back of the theater, I made a mistake. He actually drew down on his attacker outside the mall, but the Pest-Jizzette re-wrote an AP sentence to make it seem like he might have drawn his gun inside the mall near Macy’s. I won’t apologize for this error, but the prick editor that did the deed should.
