I’d prefer these cases not be settled, but have testimony taken in public about what was done.
A settlement is essentially a bribe to the plaintiff to go away, with instructions to never talk about the case again.
It’s too much money to refuse, and the defendant can make the case drag on for years; or even affect the outcome by getting a crony judge to preside; so settlements are usually the only practical way to go.
But, I’d love someday for the perps to be made to sit on the witness stand and answer questions...
I’m hoping this is the seed money to allow them to take some of the other targets to court. And really take them to the cleaners.

Nope. It is an admission of guilt by cnn and a realization by the kid that a trial would be dragged out for years, with no guarantee of victory, regardless of the strength of your case.
He had the best lawyer {Lin Wood} in the business and they agreed to take the victory {and the money} and move on.
Now they have some cash, and if they make the decision to fight a future case all the way, at least, they have cash in the bank, and ...
