I think Iran’s actions and Soleimani’s arrogant stupidity is exactly what Trump has been waiting for. Remember the Vietnam cut and run. The Communists knew there would be no price to pay for violating their agreements and overrunning South Vietnam after we left. Trump has taken this opportunity to make it crystal clear what will happen to Iran if they try something similar while Trump is getting us out of Iraq or immediately after that move has been accomplished. I believe the president was waiting for this teachable moment before he felt comfortable on the final drawdown of our troops in the area. The Persians have had a history of over playing their hand going back to the time of G Kahn. Seems the Sultan killed or embarrassed some members of Kahn’s family whom he sent to be emissaries.
