Rand Paul is a Libertarian and a Dove. And, as such his kneejerk reaction will always be against the USA taking actions such as our President Trump took and is threatening to take.
A person such as this should never again ever be elected president. Jimmy Carter must be the last such man to hold that office.
I get what he’s saying. What path is there to negotiation? My response is: Why are we negotiating with a nation state which is currently committing terrorist acts against our troops?
He’s right, but you have to ignore the constant attacks not just in Iraq but in Syria, Lebanon, Africa and elsewhere to get to the negotiating table with a straight face. Iran has operated with nearly impunity for almost a decade now with various third parties promising to reign them in.
You can’t kill a leading general without an act of war from congress? Request already granted and never rescinded: The war on terror authorizes the president to use whatever means are required to attack, capture or kill known terrorists. It specifically permits operating in countries which are both friendly or hostile to the United States. There are urges that civilian casualties should be minimized when possible.
Rand Paul ignores this already authorized use of action. If he wants to shackle the president, go ahead, Rand, let’s see you stand up and put forth a resolution calling the war on terror to be completed.
Iran can’t do anything or we remove their oil fields and sink their oil tankers and they are done.

I saw something about Trump sending a letter to Iraq saying we will leave Iraq.
No one should be surprised by Rand Paul’s remarks they are consistent with what he believes whether you agree with them or not. I think the bigger point for President Trump is that Rand represents a voting block in the Republican party who are for the lack of a better word “doves”.
I would think that Trump has not committed himself without some kind of exit strategy to deescalate this situation. And is why I am expecting some form of withdrawal down the road similar to Syria. Where troops only remain to secure certain facilities and provide rapid response.
Rand Paul acts like Iran is a major power on par with what Germany and Japan were in 1941. Maybe he could buy a history book.
I firmly believe that Iran is just short of a students revolution that would overthrow the mullah’s.
All trump would have to do is hit the right leaders, and the right command and control and Iran goes back to the way it was before ayatollah assaHola took over.
While I agree with Rand Paul on many issues, he is clearly wrong on this issue. Ron and Rand Paul are positioning for a 2024 presidential run.

Rand just gave bad international optics to our enemies. He needs to support this President, not give ammo to the Democrats.
