Kaepernick is half-white by birth. His biological mother put him up for adoption and when he was 5 weeks old he was adopted by a wealthy white family, which raised him in Wisconsin and later in California. All Kaepernick knows about ghettos is what he's seen on TV.

As a 49ers fan, I've seen multiple articles about Kaepernick's background.

It’s tough when people are born into this and don’t know any better. Kaepernick did not grow up in a ghetto. He was adopted by an upper-middleclass white family. He really has no “street cred” as it’s called.
