LOL, Al Reuters really screwed this one up!
Bull Sh**!
“The gunman who opened fire in a Texas church on Sunday, killing two before dying from gunshot wounds, owned a shooting range and had taught its parishioners how to shoot, the Texas Attorney General said on Monday.”
I’m thinking the foreign reporter seriously misunderstood the statement the AG made, but I would have expected an editor to have caught it.
Fake story withdrawn
Wow. And the media wonder why they arent trusted. For the record - the guy who shot the attacker owned the training facility. The attacker was a transient with some roots in TX.
Two “editors” on this one. LOL.
“Suicide by Church”? Now that would be novel.
Reuters really thought it had huge scoop there for a minute...sheesh.
And Reuters pulled it’s screwed up story.
It’s gone....
Maybe a bit of a problem with pronouns and their antecedents??
Gee, the fake news rabid leftists at Reuters got the story completely wrong? Gee, I’m shocked. NOT.
Actually the only thing shocking is they admitted to a mistake and took the story down.
Wow they retracted THAT quickly! LOL
They wanted it to be true so badly!
Awww... Rooters thought it was too good to check!
The media got false, anti-gun “facts” out there for the low-information voters to read before they had to pull the story. It served its purpose.
Just the kind of reporting I would expect from Rooters. Why did they retract it, the idiots? Don’t they think they could still fool somebody with it?
I saw the headline from New York Times carrying this Reuters story but they have a sign-in requirement so I looked at Reuters.com.
Id suspect a bad machine translation. A lot of journalists now use Google Translate or some similar system to get their information. One of the problems many of these systems have is pronoun reference, so its not clear to the reader of the translated piece who is doing what to whom.
Get a human translator in there. Or at least get a human translator to review the machine translation before you base your entire story on it.
I actually corrected a story last month that had been totally mistranslated and was being tweeted all over the place. Got of lot of thanks, but the problem is that journalism standards are so sloppy most of them dont care until the lawsuits start. Thats the only thing that will make them pay attention. Libel suits.
