"The NRA was responsible for most federal gun laws to 1970, and most recently supported the ban on bump stocks. There's money to be made prolonging the problem."

"Would you pay ADT to develop better alarm systems if they were actively working on legislation to decriminalize burglarizing homes?"

Interesting theory..

Interesting theory..

It's not "theory"

Their statements while supporting gun control in 1968

"The NRA supported The National Firearms Act of 1934 which taxes and requires registration of such firearms as machine guns, sawed-off rifles and sawed-off shotguns. … NRA support of Federal gun legislation did not stop with the earlier Dodd bills. It currently backs several Senate and House bills which, through amendment, would put new teeth into the National and Federal Firearms Acts." —American Rifleman, March 1968,

They supported gun control from their beginning

NRA Joint Statement on Bumpstocks

In their own words:

Despite the fact that the Obama administration approved the sale of bump fire stocks on at least two occasions, the National Rifle Association is calling on the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) to immediately review whether these devices comply with federal law. The NRA believes that devices designed to allow semi-automatic rifles to function like fully-automatic rifles should be subject to additional regulations.

1934 Gun Control

"I do not believe in the general promiscuous toting of guns," then-NRA President Karl T. Frederick told members of the House Ways and Means Committee. "I think it should be sharply restricted and only under licenses."

Surprising only to those not paying attention
