The article opens with a statement that is vague. Dems will not be sworn in until January 8th, or thereabouts. However, it’s true that in their tyrannical glee, they have already drafted draconian gun bills for immediate passage upon assuming office. This is payback to Soros and Bloomberg. It is likely Northam will only be left with State Police (Troopers) who he will try to use to shake down travelers on the roadways. Remember the Maryland Troopers, who shook down the Florida Christmas travelers a year or so ago? Troopers on patrol can call in your tag number, determine if you are a registered gun owner and try to then use a pretext (ruse) to stop you. Then the fun really begins. If you are carrying or have a weapon in the car, I believe in Virginia, ‘laws’ already force you to disclose that fact to the stopping officer. If the weapon you are carrying on yourself or in the car doesn’t meet the new ‘law,’ bingo, the trooper will likely seize the weapon. See what tyranny is like. You can’t even go hunting or to the range anymore.

Or they can target gun friendly states and presume these drivers are engaged in gun smuggling to liberal states, who always blame other states for their own gun crime.

Drivers in cars with SC, GA, TN, AL, MS, or even NC tags should expect to be pulled over because I-95 will become a fishing pond for the VA state police. Best to leave your guns at home after mid January 2020.

There are no registration requirements for weapons
in Virginia.

“In Virginia, firearms dealers must keep the original background check consent form (required as part of every Virginia firearms sale) for at least two years, and permit certain law enforcement officers to examine and copy a form related to a particular firearm in the course of a bona fide criminal investigation.”

If you own a weapon that is more than two years old,
you’d be pretty safe from discovery from the State
Police tactics you describe. You would also have to
be under crimminal investigation for a gun ohffense
before they can legally stop you.
