The Governor can call the Guard to State Active Duty, but the President can mobilize them to Active Federal Service, thereby removing them from state control. It’s been done before during the Civil Rights Era. They can be sent to barracks, or held at their mobilization station under Federal control.

I like the sound of this.
But it makes me wonder: Why wasn’t this being mentioned when some of the state governors said they would not allow their NG troops be used for border enforcement duties?
I thought Trump had called for some NG troops to be used for the border.
