That's because we now have the equivalent of a third-world voting base, not just because of all of the illegal immigration (and waves of legal immigration primarily from third-world countries), but because even the native population has been dumbed down through relentless propaganda and a deliberately fact-free state-run education system K-12 and well into the university system.

And the commies that have infiltrated every level of society keep proposing to lower the voting age to 16 or less because they want an even dumber, more gullible voting population than we already have.
