I am glad you brought that up. I remember reading about the Johnson impeachment in “Profiles in Courage” by JFK way back in 1960 (I was in the fourth grade). JFK put forth the argument that it was COURAGEOUS to stand against the tide of one’s party affiliation to do the right thing.

Now, it was a very long time ago that I read that book, and the impeachment chapter was the only one that I can remember, so it must have made a big impression on me at the time.

The only problem that I have with JFK’s “book” is this -— He didn’t write it.

I certainly agree with the sentiment, but it is very possible - even likely - they weren't his words. Most of PIC was written by others at the behest of ol' Joe in order to prop up JFK's rather thin résumé. JFK was basically a lazy party boy and wouldn't have had the interest or discipline to write a book.
