Former Massachusetts Governor and Republican presidential candidate Bill Weld told WGBH News Morning Edition Host Joe Mathieu Monday that Trump has committed impeachable offenses "way worse than Nixon" and should be removed from office.
"I'm a longtime federal prosecutor. ... I've never seen such evidence in an obstruction case," Weld said. "Extorting a foreign leader to come interfere in a U.S. election for the advantage of the person doing the extorting, that's as bad as it gets in terms of what the framers were afraid of, and what they thought should be grounds for removal."
Weld added that he thinks members of the House of Representatives have a duty to vote to impeach Trump regardless of which side of the aisle they are on.
Early in his career, Weld served as counsel in the impeachment inquiry into President Richard Nixon and worked on a report, "Constitutional Grounds for Presidential Impeachment," released after the Watergate scandal in 1974.

STFU Weld. All these losers coming out the Nixon woodwork.
What a CLOWN with 0% ratings...
Yep he beat Hillary and removed Obama’s garbage
PROJECTION...again...Leftists sooo transparent
If you multiplied Welds support times Trump’s support the answer would equal zero. Guess which one is the zero.
Funny, he can’t even get Romney to agree with him.
... and Republican presidential candidate...
ROFL!
Since Weld is an announced candidate, isn’t he interfering with the election?
Trump hasn’t even committed any impeachable offenses, whereas Nixon did. But aside from that, Trump’s are way worse.
Another professional hater.

The article of impeachment is "obstruction of congress" (which is not a real thing).
Weld is describing a fantasy in which President Trump was assisted by Ukraine in a political campaign. Can Weld explain ho this is "obstruction of congress"?
The other article is "abuse of power" (which also is not really a thing). I'd like to see Weld explain how President Trump abused his power when he followed an anti-corruption treaty, gave Ukraine what we promised Ukraine, and received essentially nothing in return. How is that "abuse of power"?
And this is the worst thing Weld has ever seen?
Weld is a RHINO. He is the type of Republican that never stands up for conservative ideas and always gives in to Democrats and the media. He is in the Romney wing of the party, a wing of less than 1% of the party. Just another Democrat in RHINO clothing.
As with “global warming” vs “climate change” vs “climate crisis”, they’re searching for the right hyperbole to frighten the sleepy middle to their cause.
I'm a longtime federal prosecutor.
Good reminder about the partisan nature of prosecutors in general. These are not good people, nor are they trustworthy people. They will twist the meaning of law and normal language to get and hold power. The federal government is 90% partisan DEM.
LOL, ouch!
Not that any extortion occurred, but isn't it the job of the President to see that the laws are carried out? And if the opposition party runs a crook, is he really supposed to ignore past or on-going crimes?
ML/NJ
So says Mitt Romney’s pet poodle...
Remember Gene, Gene the Dancing Machine from the Gong Show???
Now we have: Weld, Weld, the Bu11$h!+ machine.
Specifically, what “High Crimes and Misdemeanors” has President Trump committed?
Other than threatening the swamp dwellers of the Democrat and Republican parties?
