Letter: Romney isn't representing Utah
Daily Herald ^ | 2 hrs ago 12/6/19 | Paul Thorpe

Posted on 12/06/2019 10:29:03 AM PST by conservative98

It is time for conservative Republicans to start looking for a replacement for Mitt Romney. He has proven an embarrassment for the state of Utah and the people who elected him. He has shown himself to be a Republican in name only (RINO), in the model of John McCain. He has not supported the president or his policies which he should do. Instead his narcissism pushes him to always keep in the limelight by whatever means instead of representing the people here. In contrast, Mike Lee keeps on track and does his job. We hardly hear about his work except to be reassured he is there representing our state. The recent cartoon by the Americans for limited government showing Senator Warren as 1/1024th Native American and Romney as 1/1024th conservative Republican was spot on. Jon Huntsman should be encouraged to run. Romney only represents himself and not Utah. We need another choice.

Mr. Thorpe is right, but I am not sure Jon Huntsman would be much of an improvement of Mittwit.

Generally speaking, Republicans who talk a lot, say nice-sounding platitudes, and accomplish very little in Congress are guaranteed re-election for as long as they want.

Mr. Romney represent only himself to feed his ego. He could not care less for the people he represents.

Romney was always an executive be it in business or politics. Being only one of a hundred senators this late in life means he’s up to something else. Gadflys too small for him so what is it?

Seriously? Lee wants to flood the US with H1bs.

Jon Huntsman should be encouraged to run.

Seriously? Huntsman, the Romney clone?

The way that this letter writer thinks, I can surmise that he probably voted for Romney. This guy goes from error to error.

You are right. Romney is as despicable as they come. He’s right up there with the likes of Schumer or Kamala Harris. He’s part of a vile crowd.

Immigration
In June 2007, Huntsman joined other Western governors in urging the Senate to pass comprehensive immigration reform.[121] In 2005, Huntsman signed a bill giving undocumented migrants access to “driving-privilege cards”, which allowed them to have driving privileges but unlike driver licenses, cannot be used for identification purposes.[122] As governor, Huntsman threatened to veto a measure repealing in-state college tuition for illegal immigrants.[123]

Huntsman has stated support for a border fence, saying that, “as an American, the thought of a fence to some extent repulses me … but the situation is such that I don’t think we have a choice”.[124] In the September 9 CNN GOP debate, Huntsman suggested that the country needed more legal immigration, claiming that it will revive America’s housing market, citing Vancouver’s quickly growing real estate market as evidence.[125] Huntsman also supports granting more H-1B visas to foreigners.[126]

Huntsman supported the DREAM Act, which proposed a path to citizenship for young people brought to the United States by their parents illegally.[127]

He’s not representing Utah. He’s representing Massachusetts.
