MILWAUKEE (AP) An officer shot an armed male student Monday morning in a classroom at a suburban Milwaukee high school after the suspect pointed a gun at officers, a police chief said.
A Waukesha South High School student informed a school resource officer that a classmate had a handgun at around 10:17 a.m., Waukesha Police Chief Russell Jack said. He said the resource officer went to the classroom to confront the 17-year-old suspect and move other students in the room to safety.
Waukesha police and sheriffs deputies soon arrived at the school and tried to de-escalate the situation to no avail.
The suspect would not remove his hands from his pocket and continued to ignore officers commands, Jack said. The suspect removed his handgun from his waistband and pointed it at the officers. An officer was forced to discharge his firearm, striking the suspect.
No officers or other students were injured, Jack said.

Suicide?
Good...that’s how it is done...so why is this even a story......Office was able to be with his family tonight
He said officers performed life-saving measures on the suspect, who is in custody and in stable condition.
Why?
Because the resource officer in Florida did not engage.
More range time needed.
Threat not neutralized.
So much for Gun Free Zones!
“””Why?
Because the resource officer in Florida did not engage.”””
Why did I say good? If that is your question, then the office did what he had to do...sad but when someone points a gun at an office, the office has the right and duty to shoot to kill...end of story......and what am I missing as I did not read anything about Florida or a “resource officer in Florida” in this story
“the office has the right and duty to shoot to kill.”
I agree with the right not the duty. You have the right to protect your life. If you choose to stop a predator without the fallout of ending a kids life also protects you and loved ones.
They have been very careful to not mention the boy’s race.
you can not have a kid pull a gun on a cop in a school no less.........he was a potential risk to the welfare of the other students
Just normal stuff. If they dont mention it, you come to your own conclusion. 👍
Threat was neutralized.
Drawing conclusions without facts to back them up has sure become the FR way, but FWIW Waukesha is a solid Republican area and 88% Caucasian.
The race of a perp is no longer given if he is in custody and not a threat, and identities of 15 yo juveniles are always protected.
It’s Waukesha Wisconsin for cryin’ out loud.
Gotta be Scandinavian
The “Suspect” is lucky to be alive. How about if they winged him and he got away to shoot some students. Then what would the officers look like?
If the cop was white and the perp black, do you think the race of the perp would be kept a secret?
And a duty to protect the other students' lives by ending the threat. Once the kid drew there was no room for compassion.
Not a chance, but I wonder what they would do, If the cop was black, and the perp was white?
“You have the right to protect your life.
And a duty to protect the other students’ lives by ending the threat. Once the kid drew there was no room for compassion.”
Exactly and thank you for making my point better then I did
