The complicit media kept showing a picture of Trayvon at about age 12 or 14. Looked like a decent kid in that photo.

I remember seeing—only for a very short time period-—a picture of 17 year old Trayvon-—flashing a gang sign & looking FAR more menacing.

Here's some things to add from someone who was closer to the environment. The night before, there was a mass shooting (four or so deaths?) on Cleveland's east side. Mass shootings were very rare in Cleveland. Cleveland's east side is heavily-concentrated with the black population. The west side (where Travon was) is more diverse, majority being white. There was understandable concern that if shootings extended into the west side, and blacks were involved, there would be absolute uncontrollable chaos.

Where Trayvon was is a potential flashpoint. Large, diverse elementary school, park, rec center, popular commuter rail station, are all in close proximity. Incredibly stupid that there's no police presence where the shooting happened, especially that day. So, when a dispatch call came in that a large black male was waving a gun around, the patrolmen got there fast, ready to use their guns.

As far as we know, their hasn't been much if any attempt to find out who gave Treyvon that authentic looking toy gun with the markings removed and encouraged him to act like a thug in the park with it.
