They appear hellbent on impeachment and were prior to the hearings, but the sober and sane among them have to be wondering how bad it will all look when it is no longer controlled by Schiff. If McConnell calls the Bidens, Ukrainians, the whistleblower who we cannot name (/s), and other employees of the US Embassy, Glenn Steele, Nuland, Chalupa, and others expect the hearings to devolve into a parade of people claiming the 5th.
Those are the optics. Pelosi really screwed the pooch here. Don’t forget that the OIG report is going to drop prior to the impeachment hearings in the middle of this farce.
While I do not pretend this will sway public opinion too much thanks to the MSM, it will impact independents and those are the people who decide our elections now. Stock up on popcorn and curse Lindsey Graham who must be knee-deep in the soft coup attempt prior to Trump being elected. There is no other reason I can see that he should not be doing oversight with his own committee in the Senate other than he is hiding something that would harm him. This story is so easy a cave man could do it.

I agree with your take on the proceedings and I wished it was possible to change some minds, but I have people here who make comments about how guilty Trump is, then when asked what crime he committed, stomp away without answering.

There will be plenty of time for the Senate to show how stupid this is, but the clown show of the impeachment is doing more for the 2020 campaign then anything else could.
