And the US Army offers to physically PROTECT Vindman against the Commander in Chief, to transport him to some special place where he will be safe from the US President.

Methinks you are missing it entirely. The Army is not protecting Vindeman from the POTUS, it is protecting him from idiots in general. Do you think it would help the cause if this officer winds up dead in DC, whacked by some unknown “far right wing” assassin? Do you think that would vacate the comments he made about the POTUS or validate them?

Indeed, Vindeman is a traitor and a disgrace to the Army, but he IS a material person of interest to both sides.
Here, looking at the amount of damaging evidence coming out focusing on Vindemans partisanship and disloyalty to the US CinC, keeping him safe is paramount to Trumps success through this morass of hate and political one-sidedness ( why didn’t we think of ‘trumped” up charges against Obama? Surely we hated his politics, no? Probably because Obama was one of them, while Trump actually, is not.))
