The dems claim the republicans have moved far right.

To that I say,

“...ask not what you’re country can do for you....ahem”

George McGovern would be a moderate in today's Democrat party. I remember reading about he and his wife running a bed and breakfast in Connecticut after he was defeated for re-election in 1980.

Somehow, these old fools never want to get very far from DC when their politicking days are done. But McGovern was actually decrying all the government regulations and taxes which made turning a profit on a B&B extremely difficult. So maybe he actually learned something late in life.

You honestly believe that? In the face of all evidence that disproves it? Wow.

NO Republican has won a victory like that since 1984, the last hurrah of the Baby Boomer voters totally dominating the electorate. Every election since has grown tighter and tighter. Since the early 1990’s when Gen X came of age and began voting, Democrats have won 4 elections and controlled the presidency for 16 years while Republicans have won 3 elections and controlled the presidency for 12 years. The Republican candidates have seen their popular votes dwindle to the point they have to depend upon the electoral college to win, which is also dwindling.

No Republican will ever win at those levels again with the current electorate’s increasing leftism and diversity. Warren could very well win (as could any Democrat). We’ll be lucky to squeak through the electoral college a time or two more. Then the country will demand, and get, the electoral college eliminated.
