Talk about spin....
“However, this latest defeat of ISIS is hardly good news for the U.S. and the world. Reports on the ground claimed ISIS militants decided to surrender due to mounting pressure by another terror group the Taliban which saw a major resurgence in Nangarhar over the past few months.”
Good. That group of ISIS is out of circulation, and they are NOT America’s problem for the next 40 years.
Take them all, Afghanistan!
OR reverse the sequence.
If these surrendered ISIS soldiers are legitimate, then they can provide some badly needed deep-countryside intell to both the Afghanis and the US (for targeting, how the enemy is structured, where their supply lines are/could be, where they spend the nights, etc).
If you can’t get information from “injun country”, you get someone who can. I learned this first hand in Vietnam and Cambodia. If you’ve got captured or enemy defectors, then you learn to ask them the RIGHT questions. You’d be surprised what you can and will learn. Some of my questions (as a journalist) to them and their replies/follow up intell ops, are still classified.
I hope all of these ISIS scum are processed into Soylent Dog Food.
