The grandson confronted the underage student for shoplifting alcohol, which he refused to sell him. The shoplifter and two of his friends assaulted the grandson, and were arrested. Charges against the students were reduced to misdemeanors in return for guilty pleas and elocutions. An elocution is more than a guilty plea, it is a declaration that the defendant admits to the charges and is not just accepting a guilty plea to avoid going through a trial (think of Mike Flynn).

An Oberlin administrated initiated protests and a boycott again Gibson’s, and the University interfered with their business, specifically requiring their cafeteria contractor to drop Gibson as a supplier.

The judgment was for something like $30 million. Oberlin’s endowment fund is in excess of $90 million, but most of that money is legally committed, but there is just enough free to cover the judgment. Oberlin has appealed, but the judge required them to post $36 million in escrow to cover Gibson’s legal costs and interest on the judgment should the appeal fail.

So basically, Oberlin has no free cash and is living from tuition payment to tuition payment.

Didn’t he die rich and absolved?

Didn’t he die rich and absolved?

Didn't he die rich?

Yeah, I'm sure he enjoyed his new found wealth laying in a hospital bed, rotting from cancer.

Absolved?

I'm sure the harden left immediately stopped harassing him and his family after that court battle.

He fought the good fight and got no reward on this earth.

If the family can argue that the stress of the college’s bigotry expedited his death, they may have a claim for even greater damages.
It would be a very tough case, Mr. Gibson had a pre existing condition. But, just on principle it would be a good way to make an example out of Oberlin. Cause more shame embarrassment and besmirchment to this diploma mill, if they're capable of feeling shame in the first place

Would be worthy of pushing this. Public opinion is very important to institutions like Oberlin. Our problem in America is the media metes out a biased narrative intended to nullify truth if counter to the leftist agenda. Truth is irrelevant in their agenda.

He fought the good fight and got no reward on this earth.

He and his family were judged to be righteous in a court of law, a rare victory for a man who stands by his faith today. I'm sure that gave him some comfort in his final days, knowing his family, and his legacy to be secure. Certainly better than had he lost the case, and left his family destitute.

It was proven he and the bakery were no racists.

But the judgment is on appeal, so he never saw any of the money.

Hope his family gets paid - IN FULL.

OHIO PING!

Please let me know if you want on or off the Ohio Ping list.

Another chapter to the Oberlin College small businessman bullying and destruction internship program.

Mr. Gibson stood to and fought like very few would in his situation. May the Lord Jesus welcome and rest this man or courage.

I would imagine they would have a much easier job not having to remove the hundreds of posers taped to the walls announcing every protest and clean the trash the lefties inevitability leave behind after every protest.
