An Egyptian source said on Thursday morning that a ceasefire agreement had been reached between Israel and the Islamic Jihad and that it took effect as of 5:30 a.m.
According to the source, Islamic Jihad and the other Palestinian organizations have agreed to the Egyptian proposal for an immediate ceasefire and to conduct the demonstrations along the border fence peacefully, while Israel has agreed to the Egyptian proposal for an immediate ceasefire, the cessation of targeted killings of terrorists and the cessation of shootings at protesters along the fence.
Arab media outlets also reported about the ceasefire, but the report has not been officially confirmed by Israeli sources.
At 6:10 a.m., despite reports of a ceasefire, a barrage of rockets was fired toward the communities near Gaza.
The rocket fire from Gaza toward Israel continued well into the night on Wednesday.
At 12:22 a.m., sirens sounded at Kibbutz Nahal Oz, and then a siren sounded in the city of Ashkelon. At 12:40 a.m., sirens were also heard in Ashdod, Gan Yavne and other localities in the Lachish area.
Shortly after 2:30 a.m., sirens were heard in the Lachish area, in Sderot and other communities near Gaza.
Earlier, between 11:00 p.m. and midnight, sirens were heard in dozens of communities in the Coastal Plain. The IDF later said that the sirens were mostly due to the lack of accurate information about the expected location where the rocket was to have landed. In reality, only one rocket was fired at the region and was intercepted by Iron Dome.
Eight people required medical treatment, including four who suffered from anxiety and four who were injured while running to a protected space.

Yeah, what’s the over/under on how long this one will last?
I gotta venture forth to take care of some paperwork. I’ll wait ‘til Monday when it’s safer.
Good point. Some days, I don’t know whether to take the Red Pill, the Blue Pill, or just grab a bottle of bourbon and lock all my doors. *sigh*
Do you really believe that the “elite” of Israel are happy with missiles being shot at communities throughout the southern and central regions, and that they are getting payoffs as a result?
Proof, my FRiend?
Israel was pressured into leaving Gaza under Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, in the quixotic belief that the Arabs who lived there would turn their swords into plowshares. Israel even exhumed cemeteries when it exiled 10,000 Israelis from multiple communities where they had lived for generations (grandchildren of the original Israeli residents were born there).
Instead, first the Palestinian Authority continued to attack Israel. Then, Hamas terrorized the Palestinian Authority and took over Gaza, and now the Palestinian Islamic Jihad shot more than 400 missiles into Israel over a 3-day period.
Like the US, Israel is not trying to effect regime change in Gaza. Let the Gazan Arabs have whatever kind of government they would like. But Israel will not put up with missiles being fired into Israeli communities, drones being flown carrying weapons, balloons and books that are mined, etc.
It is significant that the Palestinian Islamic Jihad fought this war on its own. The Arabs who live in Israel (about 20% of the country and about 15% of the Knesset) had no intention of joining the battle. The Arabs who live in Judea and Samaria, which some people call the West Bank, likewise did not participate. Even Hamas, which “co-exists” with Palestinian Islamic Jihad in Gaza, apparently stayed out of the fight.
To say that Israel’s elite likes to have Israel attached and that they make money when it happens makes no sense.
Thank you for clarifying. I think deep state opposition to Israel’s ability to live in peace goes far beyond the “military-industrial complex” that President Eisenhower warned about.
The deep state was opposed to the establishment of Israel as a nation in 1948, it was opposed to Israel’s response in 1956 when Egypt closed the Suez Canal, it was opposed to Israel winning the 1967 6-day war and capturing parts of the Golan Heights, Judea and Samaria, the Gaza Strip, and the Sinai Desert (the Sinai was given back to Egypt by Israel’s Prime Minister Menachem Begin), it was opposed to Israel’s success in the 1973 Yom Kippur War to the point of holding up weapon delivery), and of course under the Obama administration it was opposed to Israel regardless of what actions it took.
As Jay Leno said once (I am paraphrasing): “Obama said that America’s commitment to Israel’s security is unshakeable. And he should know...he’s been trying to shake it for years.”
The deep state believes in the inevitability of Islamic and socialist hegemony, and globalism. Flouting the globalist objectives, Israel is a proud nation whose youth love the state and are loyal to it. And Israel demonstrates that patriotism and democracy can co-exist: Israel is a robust democracy where people voice strong criticisms of their government, and also love their nation. It also is a Jewish state on a national basis, while providing full rights for its citizens. And of course, Israel is flourishing scientifically and commercially (even gastronomically — it has become a destination for foodies from all over the world). In short, it is everything that the globalist deep state loathes.
As far as the deep state is concerned, Israel is on the wrong side of history and must be weakened lest it serve as a positive example for people who live elsewhere. Simply put, it is not in the interest of the globalists to let citizens of European or other countries know that there is an alternative to their own mission of world domination.
Ah, the quintessential Hudna. Or, Islamic reloading.
F the deep state snakes
Feed em fish heads and flush twice!
I had wondered if that was the case. My Red Alert app went quiet. I used it when I visited there two weeks ago.
“Ah, the quintessential Hudna. Or, Islamic reloading.”
Boy isn’t that the truth....Islam has been using the Hudna ever since the year 610.
