This could trigger a Civil War.

I concur. It will be hell if that happens as some people will turn quite evil in their response.

This could trigger a Civil War.

And rightly so. It would well and truly be an overthrow of a legally elected President.

"What if senators could vote on impeachment by secret ballot? If they didn’t have to face backlash from constituents ...

Because voters biggest desire is to have their representatives come up with a way to hide what they do. Especially when it's nullifying what they vote for.

But wouldn’t at least one Senator need to vote not to convict in order to give coverage to all the rest? You know that if there was a secret vote, afterwards all Republic Senators would claim to have voted to not convict!

Can the helipad at the backdoor of the Senate accommodate all 100 Senators as they flee out the emergency exits? Just asking for a friend...

It wouldn't matter.

The Repukes would lose a Perot-like 10-15% of their ACTUAL conservative base, and it would be all over for them.

I would be tempted to canvass for the Democrat in my local/state races, so we could focus on the REAL enemy, and get the cheese-eating surrender monkey Repukes out of the way.

Not going to happen, since EVERY Republican would be ousted if they tried that crap...not to mention that it reeks of being unconstitutional, to say the least.

The DC establishment is really pushing the envelope thus trying the American’s patients per this coup against Trump. It’s looking more like these DC pukes trying to oust Trump want a hot civil war to break out.

I read where it would only require 3 Republican Senators to block the “rules” that McConnell would set up and they could require secret ballot. We know we have about 10 Rino’s.

I’m not so sure that impeachment will be a definite no now.

No doubt SOB’S have a plan to impeach Pence as well should President get impeached and removed.

“A widespread revolt would be in order. It would be time to storm DC”

No need to go to DC.

The liberals like to say that ‘all politics is local’ so start your war by going after your local liberals.

!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some Never Trump nobody bitch is floating this nonsense, which wouldn’t work anyway, it would be easy to discern who voted how.

And she’s an idiot:

” When Electoral College gridlock has resulted in the House picking the president—the House elected Thomas Jefferson in 1800 and John Quincy Adams in 1824—that vote has been secret. “

Do believe this is false, those votes were by State delegation but I think how every Rep voted in 1824 is known. I don’t think there has ever been a “secret ballot” vote in Congress. How could that crap be verified without members going on the record? Ridiculous.
