Schiff Threatens Republicans: Don't Criticize the Whistleblower During Public Impeachment Hearings..

Full title: Schiff Threatens Republicans: Don't Criticize the Whistleblower During Public Impeachment Hearings or Else

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff is threatening Republican lawmakers ahead of the first public impeachment inquiry hearing on Wednesday and warning that any criticism of the whistleblower could prompt an Ethics Committee investigation. Schiff is also going out of his way to protect the Biden's from scrutiny.

"As explained in my November 9, 2019, response to the Ranking Member, it is important to underscore that the House's impeachment inquiry, and the Committee, will not serve as venues for any Member to further the same sham investigations into the Bidens or into debunked conspiracies about the 2016 U.S. election interference that President Trump pressed Ukraine to undertake for his personal political benefit," Schiff wrote in a memo to the Committee laying out the rules for the hearing. "Nor will the Committee facilitate any efforts by President Trump or his allies to threaten intimidate, or retaliate against the whistleblower who courageously and lawfully raised concerns about the President's conduct."

Whistleblower started Trump-Ukraine matter, framed issue in way House Dems have adopted for impeachment. Now Chairman Schiff orders GOP: Do not talk about whistleblower in impeachment hearings. If you do, you'll hear from Ethics Committee. http://ow.ly/MrCy50x8W76

Despite Schiff's assertions and threats, asking simple questions about bias or political connections of a whistleblower isn't "intimidation" or "retaliation." Further and as Matt has detailed , there is no law that prevents the name of the whistleblower from becoming public. There's certainly no law that prevents Republican members of Congress from talking about a whistleblower in broad or specific terms during congressional hearings. This is especially true given this "impeachment" inquiry was launched by a whistleblower -- who with second hand knowledge -- claimed a July 25 phone call President Trump had with Ukrainian President Zelensky was inappropriate.

Exactly! The republicans should not show up. Let them carry on this farce all alone. That would send a more profound statement.

Apparently the Whistleblower was central to both the Ukraine election interference and the Biden corruption.

Schiff-for-brains, the Whistleblower Protection Act of 1989 protects whistleblowers from workplace retaliation for reporting malfeasance.

It does not and never has protected the whistleblower's identity.

5 U.S.C. 2302(b)(8)-(9)

(8) take or fail to take, or threaten to take or fail to take, a personnel action with respect to any employee or applicant for employment because of-

(A) any disclosure of information by an employee or applicant which the employee or applicant reasonably believes evidences-

(i) a violation of any law, rule, or regulation, or

(ii) gross mismanagement, a gross waste of funds, an abuse of authority, or a substantial and specific danger to public health or safety,

...

(9) take or fail to take, or threaten to take or fail to take, any personnel action against any employee or applicant for employment because of-

(A) the exercise of any appeal, complaint, or grievance right granted by any law, rule, or regulation;

(B) testifying for or otherwise lawfully assisting any individual in the exercise of any right referred to in subparagraph (A);

(C) cooperating with or disclosing information to the Inspector General of an agency, or the Special Counsel, in accordance with applicable provisions of law; or

(D) for refusing to obey an order that would require the individual to violate a law;

Nowhere does it say that the identity of the employee must be withheld.

Total farce. Not a single Republican should go. The Senate should give a public statement that if impeachment is voted, there will be a one-day trial and an immediate vote not guilty

I think that this is the wrong tactic. Instead of a one-day trial, the Senate should make it clear that there will be a trial where the first witnesses are, in order, (1) Schiff, (2) The Whistleblower, (3) Hunter Biden, (4) Joe Biden, (5) IG of CIA [to explain exactly why the CIA whistleblower application was changed to allow hearsay, and (6) Vindner to explain who he talked to and why he shared classified WH information to unauthorized parties. This might be the best way to get the House to back off.

“”warning that any criticism of the whistleblower could prompt an Ethics Committee investigation.””

Well, reading what THE MAN says CAN’T be brought up, it sounds like everything else about him CAN be criticized so he’s fair game, isn’t he? Have at it Republicans!

Poor shifty is really out to lunch, isn’t he? I bet he doesn’t know daylight from dark. How does he manage to stay out of the looney bin, I wonder?

Translation: The Democrats will not allow their “impeachment” hearings to expose the prior administration’s many collusions with the DNC inventing the “Russian Collusion” hoax, nor the intersection of the DNC and the Obama administration with former officials of Ukraine in the effort; nor the so-called “Whistle Blower’s” own direct activities in that mess in 2016.

In fact, the “Whistle Blower” only surfaced when Trump asked the newly elected president of Ukraine to look into all the those matters.

Shiff’s attempts to hide and shield the “Whistle Blower” constitutes actual obstruction of justice.
