When the Democrats’ public hearing resembles the trial scene in Idiocracy, you’ll know they’ve hit rock bottom.

I’ve seen enough to know to not count on the Senate GOP to have a spine. If there ever was a time the left (i.e. Soros) would bride and blackmail Senate members into a decision, this would be it.

It’s a crass fundraising tool for the Dems. Red meat to boost their demoralized and seething base.

Of course, it has boosted the fundraising success of their nemesis even more. And having waited until they were on the cusp of an election year, utterly foolish.

Their best hope was an economic downturn in September 2020 that their candidate could level political haymakers with; now, they have probably also obliterated that one ‘hope’; as an actual impeachment proceeding will fail to remove Trump, and make him nearly invincible.

When you have absolutely no shame, no sense of honor, and the media will do nearly anything to cover for you, a Senate trial is not important.

I don't think Democrats will get a successful vote in the house, primarily because of the Kim Clement video, and I would like to believe that there are enough democrats that would vote their conscience and the evidence of wrongdoing is just not there. A senate trial will do the following:

The president is obligated to look at and expose corruption Any law making it illegal for him to do so, must be unconstitutional.

Practical issues:

We need to demand Democrat Senators who have served under Obama in some role OR are running for President are disqualified - conflict of interest.

We have to criminally prosecute the leaking Democrats in the Deep State and reporters who joined in. Do that before the trial or else the undermining of the democratically elected president will continue.

Bring up to the press repeatedly that these people have tried to impeach nearly every recent Republican President, and this is just the latest.
A significant number of U.S. presidents have faced calls for impeachment, including five of the past six Republican presidents.

And if Romney had won, they’d be doing it to him.

Impeachment is Built on a Trap That Obama Created for Romney

Don’t fight impeachment. Fight every angle of their attack. Do not ever agree with any principle of it (that Trump did something wrong).

This is akin to liberals defining liberalism as love, so all other viewpoints can be banned as hate speech. Or liberal equated to smart, rational, educated, so social media throttles conservative content as low quality or fake news.

My guess is that just prior to the election, the Democrats will drop the entire impeachment fiasco while insisting that the Republicans obfuscated them . . . figuring that they have gotten all the mileage they need from the whole farce.

Has anyone else considered this is not just an attempt at impeachment of a sitting POTUS, but also a way to torpedo ALL of the weak candidates running in one swoop.

An impeachment trial would leave the field wide open for Biden, however, being called before the Senate to testify, along with Hunter, would effectively kill his campaign, allowing Hillary! to be the 'savior' to step into the nomination on a 2nd or 3rd ballot.

If the Senate wanted to shut this fiasco down, they would announce now that Schiff, Joe Biden, Eric Whistleblower, the CIA IG who participated in changing the whistleblower application form, and Hunter Biden would be called as witnesses. I think that such an announcement would deflate the balloon.

What are these senators supposed to do?

Campaign in the four-plus days a week the Senate - and the trial - are not in session.

I’m sorry but this is NOT going to go as we hoped-—the media is doing their bidding 24/7 on every single outlet along with colleges, public schools, Hollywood, Tech giants——the idiots in our country (under 50) are too stupid and will simply believe what the minions say. Every single narrative the media has aired about Russia, Ukraine and other items have been disproved-—Yet dumb citizens are [still] pushing the narrative.

If anything, it will help in the “red states” win down tickets as well as the President, but states like NJ, NY, CA, MA and so forth, their blue gains will increase. Unless there’s a great awakening....

No trial.

The Senate should send any articles of Impeachment to the trash bim. The lack of due process, the lack of direct evidence, the self serving aspect of fabricated low tier bureaucratic evidence politically motivated.

The Constitution supports the Senate in trashing any “Articles of Impeachment” made up of whole fabricated cloth. The way to do that is in Article I, clause 9 of the Constitution, which prohibits the House from passing a bill of attainder.

Very interesting and completely plausible read.

I highly recommend that all who haven’t read it now. A couple of times for good measure.

# 3: What are these senators supposed to do? Do they put their campaign stops on hold for a month to be in the chamber and watch the trial, giving their opponents a huge ground game advantage? Conversely, do they skip the trial in order to campaign and eventually vote to remove a president even though they didn’t bother to attend the trial? Neither of these are very attractive options.

This point is wrong, as no member of the Senate can engage in campaigning during a Senate trial. They may not be required to attend the trial in the Senate (not heard about that aspect), but they are still prohibited from campaigning.

I think the word should be “WILL” not “WOULD”. There is no way this impeachment train is going to be stopped in the House.

The only interesting question left is when do they kick it over the fence to the Senate.

The problem with January is that five Democratic Senators are running for POTUS and would like to be campaigning in January. Iowa and New Hampshire are both in early Feb. this year.

And, the further it goes on, the worse for them (and better for Biden who doesn’t have to show up in D.C. to vote for anything.

So, that’s what I find amusing.

McConnell should hold out and schedule the vote for the week of July 13 - the Democratic Convention.
