Details Aside, Warren Supporters Just Want Plans

Aria Neukam says she loves that Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren has lots of plans. She knows the senator has an education plan, a Medicare for All plan, an environmental plan.

Ms. Neukam says she doesn’t know exactly what is in those documents, but that isn’t the point. She says she thinks President Trump’s governing style is ad hoc and unorthodox, and she prefers a leader who has spelled out what they are going to do and how to do it.

“In truth, when she says ‘I have a plan,’ I trust that there is some well-researched plan out there,” said Ms. Neukam, 68 years old, a Warren supporter who attended the Massachusetts Democrat’s recent town hall at the University of New Hampshire’s main campus in Durham, N.H.

“It’s just the idea that she’s thought all these things through. I think that just to have a plan is amazing,” Ms. Neukam said.

Interviews with roughly two dozen of Ms. Warren’s backers reveal a theme: Ms. Warren has earned support from some Democrats who aren’t immersed in the meat of her policy proposals but are instead drawn to the idea that she has a vision for governing in Washington.

Ms. Warren’s primary rivals have pounced on her plans as she has risen in Democratic polls. For months, Ms. Warren had declined to outline how she would pay for Medicare for All, which would eliminate private insurance and switch all Americans to a health system paid for by the government. “Your signature, senator, is to have a plan for everything except this,” South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg said during an October debate.

A group of Senate Democrats are arguing that big wins in Kentucky, Virginia and Pennsylvania this week show why the party needs to nominate a moderate instead of a progressive candidate such as Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.).

These Democrats note that this week's victories in suburban areas that have traditionally voted Republican were scored by moderate candidates who ran as practical problem solvers and not as “bold,” big-idea progressives in the mold of Warren or Sen. I can’t figure out why most of these candidates think they’re qualified to run this country....almost none of them have the experience to get hired to run anything but their mouths.

IMO Donald Trump is the most qualified candidate of my lifetime - big experience building and managing an enterprise and he knew how to get things done on a huge scale and knew how to prevail in difficult deals. When I heard that rich Arab say he was forced to bail out Trump twice I thought that was another indication of what a great POTUS he’d be.

Weak, lazy, dependent people strongly desire to believe someone else has done the work and has things under control, so they “trust” one pander-bear after the other. Facts and rational analysis proving the Plans are rotten will have no effect. Somehow the emotional link of “trust” has to be transferred onto someone else (they will never grow out of needing the crutch). You would think that the ample evidence of Warren’s lies and manipulations would convince these idiots that she can’t be trusted, but evidently not.
