Virginia’s Losses Could Point To Trump’s Reelection

Consider this scenario. A state holds its elections one year before an unpopular incumbent president is up for reelection. Some candidates won’t even commit to supporting the president’s reelection bid for fear of it hurting their own chances.

When the ballots are counted, the president’s party loses control of the state senate, which means the other party controls the legislature and the governor’s mansion. Pundits say that the outcome of Virginia’s election is a bad omen for the president.

Wait, isn’t this what just happened in Virginia this week? And surely the fact that Republicans have lost control of a state they long dominated is very bad news for President Donald Trump’s reelection effort, isn’t it?

Democrats think they have the President over a barrel. Not so fast.

The Rep party barley had control by only one seat in the senate. With North VA being full of DC types, it isn’t had to se why it flipped.

Bloomberg and other anti-Second Amendment types outspent Republicans three to one, last I heard.

NOVA and Hampton Roads/VA Beach will keep VA blue. Oh, and illegal alien voters. Oh, and lib gerrymandering. Oh, and voter fraud.

Considering that the VA GOP couldn’t be bothered to field a candidate in 1/4 of the races they can eat a bag of dix. Just my 2 cents.

Past results are not always an indication of future outcomes.

Assuming there’s a large “Blue VA” block in the urban areas and around DC, it will come down to whether there is enough Trump support (and votes) in the rural “Red VA” areas to overcome. Trump’s growing black support will surely help.

But Virginia is ground zero for The Swamp, and we know they will vote their self-interest.

Everybody knows how Obama’s story played out. He went on to soundly defeat Republican candidate Mitt Romney.

I think there was a lot of cheating by Obama in 2012. President Trump will not benefit, but rather suffer, from the corruption in the federal bureaucracy (e.g., IRS, DOJ).

On the other hand, Donald Trump is a much better candidate than Willard Romney.

There were more GOP votes than Rats by a wide margin. Gerrymandered districts gave more seats to the Rats.

The good people of Virginia just might eventually learn that losertarians relish handing elections to the Dems/Marxist’s and many losertarians are really Dems in drag.

Unpopular incumbent president?

BS. I stopped reading right there.

And Virginia has been trending blue for a long time.

I read the article earlier, but don’t think these authors made a good compelling argument.

What happened in Virginia with Obama has no bearings NOW. The trend is more and more suburbs are now bleeding Democrat blue.

Once they (Dems) get hold of power, it has been/will be a long slog war to pry it from their hands.

Unpopular? Not with those who elected him. The rest of you can pound sand.

Thanks for the info.

Wonder why the courts don't fix the gerrymandering like they do when Republicans gerrymander (e.g. Pennsylvania).

Its the NOVA swamp. Find the map of how VA voted and you will the difference. Much like the 2016 national map.

Problem in VA is that the establishment wants to run Dem-lite candidates in suburban areas. No one is excited about voting for a lesser Dem.

They also lacked an overall message - they could have promised to repeal the new interent taxes - would have been a great issue in suburban areas.

The Dem-lite candidates lacked a message because they don’t have a message. They are all Romney wannabes.
