My solution is to eliminate medical insurance entirely. Its amazing how inexpensive things even medical procedures often get when you have to pay for them out of your own pocket.
You have to eliminate insurance, that’s a key - but remember, back in the day, Blue Cross (which preceded Blue Shield) was created because hospital care, in the 1930s already, had become unaffordable.
Hill-Burton sealed the deal in 1948. Hospitals would be built with Federal money to Federal standards (which continue to escalate to this day), and as with all Federal standards, money is no object.
If you kill off the insurance companies (a very good idea), the hospitals have to become public utilities, or be outright nationalized.
People have not been able to pay out of pocket to sustain the hospital-pharma complex for almost 90 years, and it’s too late now to start.
