WASHINGTON (AP) — Former Attorney General Jeff Sessions will announce he’s running for his old Senate seat in Alabama.

Sessions is expected to make the announcement on Thursday. His decision to run was confirmed to The Associated Press on Wednesday by two Republicans with direct knowledge of his plans. They were not authorized to discuss it publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.

Sessions long held the seat he will now pursue but stepped down to serve as President Donald Trump’s first attorney general. He was ousted after enduring public mocking from Trump for recusing himself from special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation.

Mo Brooks apparently does not want to run.

Jeff Sessions or Roy Moore
Tough chose

Donald Trump and his SCOTUS or Hillary Clinton and her SCOTUS.
Tough choice for GOP Senators like Romney. Sadly, his stint as AG in name only has proven Sessions is no better than Romney.

And u can also bet Trump has been consulted
about Sessions entry into the Senate race.

Doubtful. GOP Senate does what it wants and has no interest in substantively supporting POTUS against the ongoing coup.

Sessions will win in a landslide. I hope a conservative cleans his clock in the primary, but the GOP-e will heavily back him and the no-nothing voters will just like that the name sounds familiar, and he will win by a 2-1 margin.

Voters are stupid by and large. OK, more lazy than stupid, but same effect.

Doubtful?
The President could kill Sessions entry into the race the day he announced.
When Sessions enters and if Trump stays silent and neutral, that will prove
Trump was consulted and approved.

.

John Huber is his Campaign Manager.

You just have to be one dumb son of a bitch to believe in Jeff Sessions.

Comey’s boy, Jeff Sessions.

He doesn’t do the Dems any good in retirement. He’s still doing what he’s told.

McConnell is doing what he wants. Don Jr. tweets “whereslindsay” and POTUS says “Republicans need to start fighting back.” And then we get nothing from the GOP Senate. I’m sure it’s the same with Sessions.

Neutrality means approval? Someone tell Biden.

I guarantee that Mitt Romney and Jeff Sessions will be allies.

Rod Rosenstein claimed that Sessions wanted to remove Trump under the 25th Amendment.

Neutral as in not endorsing any candidate in the primary.
And you trust what Rosenwiesel says?
Would your prefer Doug Jones again?

I disagree. He was not part of the deep state. He was supportive of Candidate Trump from 2015 at the first rally in Mobile, Alabama when tens of thousands of Jeff’s constituents came out in a windy thunderstorm to hear Donald Trump speak.

And many of his Senate colleagues gave him the evil eye for doing such a thing.

Alabamans love Donald Trump and they love Jeff Sessions. That’s not even debatable.

He’s a good man. He appears to have been a not-so-good US AG probably because of his acculturation in the US Senate.

I think it’s safe to say in general that US Senators make lousy US AGs.

Jeff Sessions will be a very supportive US Senator for President Trump.

Sessions is another Romney. There are several other good candidates running in the primary.

So if Sessions wins you think he won’t want any revenge against President who fired him?

Terrible AG, Good senator. I cannot think of one senate vote I disagreed with. He was always on the right side and if that is what it takes to get the Dem seat warmer out of there, so be it.
