Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg is bringing back the holier-than-thou snake-oil act again, selling to voters in Iowa the idea that if they elect him president, he'll govern like Jesus.
According to the Washington Examiner:
Pete Buttigieg said he plans to bring Christian values back to the White House and ensure that religion will not be used to divide the American people.
Speaking at a campaign stop in Iowa on Monday, the 2020 presidential candidate said, "But I’m also offering to people who are guided by a faith tradition in making their decisions about what they think is right and wrong.Referencing the words of Jesus according to Matthew 25:35-40, the South Bend mayor continued, "When I’m president you’ll never have to look at the White House and scratch your head and think, 'Whatever happened to, "I was hungry and you fed me. I was a stranger and you welcomed me. Whatever you’ve done to the least of these, you have done to me"?'"
So nobody was Christian until Buttigieg came along, it seems. Nobody knew much about 'right and wrong.' Never mind that America has a tradition of not wearing one's religion on one's sleeve. Pete's put that one to bed again.
And never mind that every president so far has been at least nominally Christian. Even Obama, who's almost certainly an atheist, paid lip service to Christianity by going to church services, at least when he was in political hot water. President Trump, who's been embraced by Evangelicals and got a majority of the Catholic vote, too, has certainly been seen at church services, along with much of his family. But now only Pete's the one who will embody true Christian values, the rest don't measure up.

Barry Soetoro did a lot of that.
Crucify Him! ( LOL)
The problem with your goal, Pete, is that Jesus never governed anything. He said:
“My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence” (John 18:36).
I doubt you, Pete, have the stones to rule like Jesus will eventually rule this world. He’ll be using a “rod of iron.”
My God is a powerful God, not some sissy little girlie man like you.
“When Im president youll never have to look at the White House and scratch your head and think, ‘Whatever happened to, “I was hungry and you fed me. I was a stranger and you welcomed me. Whatever youve done to the least of these, you have done to me”?’”
President Trump does not even keep his salary. He gives it away. He leads by example.
We will only be scratching our heads if Pete gets elected.
Jesus didn’t pack fudge, nor did he approve of it.
No way is a person who rebels against Gods design, going to act godly.
If I were to quote the Bible now... it would be construed as gay-bashing.
Good point.
Comments BUMP!
It's the open mocking of the Gospel of Jesus Christ that really drives it home. And that he does it with a sort of "Peter Strock" smirk.
The thought of Butty Boy, the power bottom, governing from a Christ centered perspective is a special kind of gas lighting given his stated policy positions - all of which seem to be at odds with what are generally considered the basic tenets of Christianity.

Well Pete ole boy Jesus never governed. He was a teacher. He taught lesson you never learned or never accepted.
Pro Class Snake Oil Salesman on steroids.
So he’s telling us he’s the “Jesus in the streets, Sodom in the sheets” candidate?
No thanks.
Even the Harvard "scholar" he represents himself as being cannot cite a single evidence that Jesus advocated for "some" individuals to form themselves into government bodies who would use coercion and raw power to force the "taking" of some citizens earnings and "redistribute" them to others of the "takers'" choosing.
Could somebody explain to me what that means? It makes no sense whatsoever to me.
Impossible for Mayor Pete to return Christian values to the White House. My reading of Romans 1 tells me that Mayor Pete's chosen sexual preference is tantamount to rejection of God . . . exchanging the truth for a lie.

Be glad you are not living in the UK or Canada.
That's the term I was thinking of. His gayness, like O's blackness, makes people want so desperately to signal virtue that they buy this act. Sad, so sad.
Trump has provided more food, home and shelter to people than Buttigeg could in 5 lifetimes.
