BRUSSELS (Reuters) - The European Union agreed on Monday to delay Brexit until Jan.31, said the bloc’s chairman, Donald Tusk.

“The EU27 has agreed that it will accept the UK’s request for a Brexit flextension until 31 January 2020,” Tusk said of the idea of a “flexible extension”, which means Britain could go earlier if its fractious parliament ratifies the divorce bill.

The bloc now awaits an approval from London. Once that is in, a 24-hour countdown will start when member states can still object or else the decision will have been taken.

“This will allow for the decision to be formally adopted tomorrow,” an EU diplomat said.

The EU needs the UK's revenue and will give all the extensions possible. It shows that the UK would be better off leaving the EU, but the socialist Remain politicians are throwing every roadblock possible at any type of exit, regardless of any "deal"

There will never be a deal that will pass Parliament. Remoaners can try the trick again in January by amending the Benn Act.

They have no incentive to ratify the deal. Its dead, Jim.

They will give all of the extensions necessary and take all of the votes needed to get the result they want. Until they get the results they want it will be delay, delay, delay.

Exactly. Enough people in Parliament hate the deal enough so it will never pass.

Brexit is dead. Take it to the bank.

I think the UK, maybe naively so, might still get a Brexit in Name Only...

But, this period needs to hurt for the UK, and the end result needs to be that it might just be in practical terms like they never even left.

Brexitino

Sounds fantastic. Like a Brazilian footballer just about to sign up for Manchester United.

The bloc now awaits an approval from London. Once that is in, a 24-hour countdown will start when member states can still object or else the decision will have been taken.

It's Oct 28. If Boris delays approval to Oct 30, and then some EU member state objects to an extension on Oct 31, then UK crashes out on Oct 31 with no opportunity for anyone to stop it.

Looks like they’ll get it done at the same time the US “fixes” social security.

He has to approve. His only hope is some EU state objects but its unlikely.

Yes, Boris Johnson’s hands are tied.

The EU will approve the “Flextension” allowing Brexit to be delayed forever.

France made some noise that they would not vote for an extension, but I think that was kabuki theater. The EU needs the positive revenue from the UK, France and Germany to support the other members.

Remember, with a UK in the EU, there is more money for the EU to play with. That is the bottom line.

Corbin is blocking a general election too, he knows that if
the Conservatives and Brexit party unite that Labor commies
will be voted out.

The Queen must desolve the Govt. and call for a General election since its total gridlock like our Congress.

We can’t even get USMCA put up for a vote even though it
would add half percent to GDP

The rest of the EU is bound to give an extension if the UK requests it AND shows some change - Boris’ deal is a change.

What reasoning would you be happy with them giving for not extending a request from a member state? Saying “you haven’t done anything” isn’t true when Boris has got a deal in place.

The protests in the UK have been by Remainers. You don’t want them to have weapons, right?
