Essence Magazine tweeted in memoriam of the late Rep. Elijah Cummings (D., Md.) Friday, but included a picture of Rep. John Lewis (D., Ga.).
"#RIP Rep. Elijah Cummings 🙏," the African-American women's magazine wrote in a now-deleted tweet that included a picture of the very much alive Lewis.

Getty's caption of the image says, "Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga., is seen near the statue of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., in the Capitol Rotunda before a memorial service for the late Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., in Statuary Hall on Thursday, October 24, 2019."
In an earlier tweet, the magazine noted former president "Barak" Obama was present at Cummings's funeral, misspelling the name "Barack." That tweet was also deleted.
I can see thet, they both had/have cockroach faces.
In all fairness, they do resemble each other.
Can’t get good help these days.
I’d be fine with that racist, anti-Semite Lewis going home to Satan as well
Never heard of Essence magazine. What kind of mag is it?
African-American women’s magazine
LOL!!! For real???
In before the raciss “they all look alike” comment.
Essence (magazine) Essence is a monthly magazine for African-American women between the ages of 18 and 49. First published in 1970, it is one of the few American magazines that focus on reaching an audience of black women, revolves around the black woman experience, and has remained for a long period of time.
Thank you.
I think a lot more than just Essence got the Cummings/Lewis photos mixed up. But of course the other news outlets made their mistakes because theyre racists.
Fine by me, Ill take that twofer.
More Democrats should be like Elijah Cummings.
“LOL!!! For real???”
I used to read it once in a while if I ran across it somewhere. It was an OK magazine I thought.
I’ve always remembered one thing I read in it. It was a report of sort of a round-table discussion about abortion, it was (iirc) just some ordinary women, not celebs or experts, and one woman said that it was a foolish excuse to say one couldn’t afford a child, because, rich or poor, everyone throws food in the garbage every day. Very true and I recall that comment often.
I haven’t read it in years, sadly, they seem to now be staffed by 27 year old no-nothings just like the rest of the MSM.
I saw what you did there:)
All black men look alike to black women? I think I'm starting to figure out why there are so many fatherless black babies.
Essence caught thinking they all look alike.
Back in my old Linotype days, the cutlines under a recently-deceased town dowager and a decrepit barn that burned down were mixed up.
Under the dowager's photo, the line read "Old eyesore gone at last."
That last would apply to either Cummings or Lewis.
