California should pass a law requiring escapees to continue paying California taxes because shut up.

1. My N Calif neighbors moved to Kansas a year before I moved out to N Nevada....2003/2004 respectively.
ALL 3 of us received DEMANDS from California for registration of all 4 of our vehicles & both of our trailers. NONE of those demands were ‘forwarded address’ items. Same for our driver’s licenses when renewal came up. NO ONE can legally have more than one driver’s license....
They were sent direct to both of our new addresses.
The following year we all also got the same demands.
ALL of our plates were surrendered in our new states & those states sent them to Calif. I checked.
2. California Legislature actually had a bill in committee, which would have charged an EXIT TAX wo anyone leaving California-—even if you died.
3. Same California Legislature got a bill into committee that would have FROZEN ALL OF YOUR ASSETS FOR 5 YEARS IF YOU SOLD YOUR HOUSE OR BUSINESS OR TRIED TO LEAVE CALIFORNIA.
ALL your assets would include proceeds from selling house or business-—your vehicles—your animals-—your household goods-—your food in the refrigerator-—the clothes on your back-—your jewelry—your bank accounts of all kinds-—your pensions -—your 401’s, etc, etc,....EVERYTHING YOU OWN.
That bill did not make it out of committee-—however, the fact that they even thought it up & WROTE the bill is scary enough for me.
I left in Dec 2004, after 40 1/2 years there. Won’t go back. Don’t miss it.
