Any testimony given behind closed doors which is cherry-picked and released to fit a political agenda is suspect.
There are better records of the Salem Witch Trials thanks, in large part, to Rev. Samuel Hale, great grandfather of the Revolutionary War hero of the same surname, who judiciously recorded them as a witness to those sorry proceedings.
His records became the basis for our constitutional protections against many of the abuses so chronicled.
