You're scared of what you can't see right in front of you. Your imagination tends to get the better of you. The idea of trying to get away from something that's after you really gets your heart pumping. Being chased horrifies you. |
Bible in a Year:
Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be. James 3:10 The powerful song This Is Me is an unforgettable show tune featured in The Greatest Showman, the smash movie musical loosely based on the life of P. T. Barnum and his traveling circus. The lyrics, sung by characters in the film whod suffered verbal taunts and abuse for failing to conform to societal norms, describe words as destructive bullets and knives that leave scars.
The songs popularity points to how many people bear the invisible, but real, wounds caused by weaponized words.
James understood the potential danger of our words to cause destructive and long-lasting harm, calling the tongue a restless evil, full of deadly poison (James 3:8). By using this surprisingly strong comparison, James emphasized the urgent need for believers to recognize the immense power of their words. Even more, he highlighted the inconsistency of praising God with one breath and then injuring people who are made in Gods image with the next (vv. 910).
The song This Is Me similarly challenges the truth of verbal attacks by insisting that were all gloriousa truth the Bible affirms. The Bible establishes the unique dignity and beauty of each human being, not because of outward appearance or anything we have done, but because we are each beautifully designed by GodHis unique masterpieces (Psalm 139:14). And our words to each other and about each other have the power to reinforce that reassuring reality.
Whose forgiveness might you need to seek for using damaging words? How might you encourage someone today?
Creator God, thank You for creating each of us. Help us to use our words both in praise of You and to encourage the people You expertly designed.
You're scared of what you can't see right in front of you. Your imagination tends to get the better of you. And for you, something like the deep, dark ocean is obviously pretty terrifying. Who knows what's lurking right next to you? The idea of trying to get away from something that's after you really gets your heart pumping. Being chased horrifies you. You're also quite scared of big, hungry animals with no sense of right or wrong. You know a shark will stop at nothing to make you its lunch.
You Are Psycho
You think there’s nothing scarier than the anticipation of something horrifying happening. It drives you insane to be in suspense.
You prefer scary movies that build up your fear and resist overwhelming you with scene after scene of gore. You like some thought being put into scaring you.
You find the idea of being totally vulnerable to a deranged killer to be incredibly frightening. You’re the type of person who dreads being alone.
And yet you find deranged killers to also be quite fascinating, psychologically speaking. You can’t help but be drawn to what terrifies you.
Happy hump-day eve!
Stay safe, everyone!

Those clothes made out of curtains always kind of freaked me out.
I am silence of the lambs
Good evening, Luv...my first ping errored. Second looks to have gone through. Having issues here.
Howdy, Kathy! (((hugs)))
Thanks for the ping-a-ling! I just got a very strange error message myself. So glad you were able to get through. Was the rest of your day a disaster in the making, too? :)
LOL! I hear ya.
I am “Silence Of The Lambs” (I hated that movie!) “you can hardly ever find a horror movie that compares to the nastiness of a true crime story.”
So true. I’m one of those “I.D. Addicts”, and reader of true crime novels.
