I like Dennis Prager but I think he goes a little overboard here in this piece. Air Canada wont pay a price for this decision because normal people dont give a damn whether you call them ladies and gentlemen or everybody.
I hate flying for a whole host of reasons. Calling me a gentleman after Ive been put through TSA screening and crammed into a tiny coach seat isnt going to change my mind about that.
Air Canada has probably made a smart business move because theyre catering to the only stunted misfits who give a sh!t about how theyre addressed in public announcements.
The most intolerant wins. The dictatorship of the small minority.
The 90% wouldn't applaud your dealing harshly with the 10% even though doing so made their lives easier.
It's time to tell our LGBTQ and sometimes Y 10% to get over themselves.
Up until 9-11 and the TSA creation, I was fairly pro-flight. I never had a bag lost, and had only one single flight cancelled while in the midst of a trip.
Over the past twenty years, I just don’t marvel at airline flights, the personnel involved, or the business practices. You have marginal legroom, and they want to charge you $25 (each way) to get real legroom. I really don’t care to watch CNN news at airports. I consider some US airports now to be third-worldish (JFK for example). I have seven airlines that I refuse to fly with because of poor personnel behavior, or marginally kept-up planes. The TSA folks are just thugs in uniform. Traveling internationally, and having to return to the US and it’s passport control....it can take up to 90 minutes to get through a stupid line and reach the bag pick-up point.
I just drive.
Always get there cheaper.
And often quicker.
Ok - I don't see why this is necessary. If there's a guy who has the mental state of he is really a woman, why wouldn't he/she hear that greeting and be satisfied with the "ladies" part ? And vice-versa for a she/he.
The extortion of corporations by the few, shame on you. The majority should show them who’s boss with a wake up call. See if they can survive on the gay, lesbian and transgender crowd
So, after practicing manners for 60 years - we now find out: “Hey you”! works just fine also .
I just read an article about a born-female that identifies as a male that is transitioning to being a female. (No - never transitioned to being a male - just thinks she is one.)
I was thinking she might get offended. But then thought, upon hearing “Ladies and Gentlemen” they might think “Hey - that’s ME!”
He didn't change anything at all about his life. He still looked like a man, acted like a man, dressed like a man, etc. But he called himself a woman so he could pay lower auto insurance premiums.
LMAO. If it's going to be a ridiculous racket, then you may as well work it to your advantage.
Should we even be allowing lunatics onboard commercial flights? Doesn’t sound wise to me.
Oh yea, Chic Fila is really hurting from a couple of poofter towns closing their stores. I believe they realize that there is more to life than money.
It wont matter because only about .5% of Passengers on any Aircraft FREAKING IGNORE the Flight Attendant 👩✈️ while the Welcome aboard and the Safety Briefing is happening anyway. They are more interested in getting a Drink 🥃 or some other type of service from the Flight Attendant ASAP. They figure if theres an Accident or Emergency that the Flight Attendant is there just to help their selfish a$$e$ get through it before anyone else gets help.
Thats why back when I flew I would sit at the Wing Window Exits. 1) because I was flying Standby. 2)I knew how to operate the Exit. 3) I had more legroom because the seat rows are further apart for the Exit. 4) I would have been ready to help the Passengers that LISTENED to the Briefing before the ones that ignored the Briefing got to exit.
When it’s my turn to make the announcements I just say “Welcome aboard everyone to Frontier flight # to (where ever), sit back and enjoy your flight and then go on to name the the crew and their positions.
Air Canada's passengers.
The last time we flew was on a chartered flight. Just our group. But still had to go through all the silly TSA hooey. No assigned seating but the attendants wouldn’t allow us to sit with our kids!! NEVER AGAIN.
I’ll drive, thank you. If it’s too far to drive, I don’t need to go.
Sounds perfect to Me.
You dont have to do the Safety narrative do You ?
Nope. In case of an emergency the crew just surreptitiously don parachutes and gather by the door.
