I read a book recently "The Accidental Superpower" in which a chapter is dedicated to Canada with the theory that Alberta will eventually succeed to the U.S. and be much better off as a U.S. state as right now they are being asked to fund all the welfare back east.

Would like to see that happen in my lifetime.

We here in Alberta have talked about this extensively. I asked thousands of people first hand, “would you prefer to separate or join the US?” It was about a 50/50 split, but nobody except one old lady asked what was wrong with the way it was.

We will push this extremely hard tomorrow if this doesn’t go well. If Alberta joined the US, overnight you’d have the most wealthy energy independent country in the world, with the world’s leading experts in oil and gas, not to mention the agriculture and forestry and mining. We are sitting on a gold mine here and they won’t let us develop.

Absolutely NOT.

If we allowed Alberta to become a state, we’d have no real argument against also allowing DC statehood (a disaster) and Puerto Rico statehood (a bigger disaster).

NO! NO!! NO!!!
