“I don’t see in the story where there is any mention of “Ali Watkins Never Slept With James Wolfe – It Was a Cover Story….” “

It’s explained in the comments. The ‘pillow talk’ idea was a cover story to be able to protect higher ups. If the claim is that Ali, and she’s definitely not guilty, had ‘coaxed’ the information out of Wolfe, then Wolfe has a plausible reason to claim that he acted as a, well, ‘lone wolfe’, rather than having to admit he was following orders from the Senators. And if it was just Wolfe being a dick, it’s not nearly as big a deal as US Senators ordering the release...and so, Wolfe, a lower-level person, can be given a little slap and all is forgiven, and forgotten.

There’s a similar theory regarding Stroke-Page, again the claim is that they were 2 lovers (interesting that neither spouse ever left them) having ‘pillow texts’, rather than both being ordered by their respective higher-ups to do the dirty work. Otherwise, how can it be explained that the 2 of them were working so closely, when they’re from 2 different agencies and would otherwise never even know of each other.

thanks. I must be real dense, cause I don’t see it.
Why put something in a headline that’s not mentioned in the article ?

I do believe Sundance’s article in whole shows the “lover cover”, but he doesn’t use it as an opening and he doesn’t make that conclusion, nor connect the dots away from the “lover” story.
Why not just say...the lover story is a cover and here’s why ?

the comments aren’t part of the article.

and the comments re: “cover” are conjecture... reading between lines...
some examples: “just guessing here”; “sounds like”; “If this even remotely true”;

I even searched the web before I first posted and the best I came up with is this tweet.

https://twitter.com/TheLastRefuge2/status/1185988188256518154/photo/1 ; (which is now mentioned in the comments)

and the documentation shown doesn’t mention “lover cover”. and the comments following the tweets do the same thing as the comments in the Sundance article...

at least put something in the article to validate the headline.
oh well.

(/rant off)
