Romney slams ceasefire deal, calls Trump's Syria move 'a bloodstain' in US history
The Hill ^ | 10/17/19 03:41 PM EDT | BY JORDAIN CARNEY

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) ripped the administration over the recently announced cease-fire in Syria, calling President Trump's decision to withdraw troops "a bloodstain in the annals of American history."

"The announcement today is being portrayed as a victory. It is far from a victory. Serious questions remain about how the decision was reached precipitously to withdraw from Syria and why that decision was reached," Romney said.

Romney's Senate floor speech came after Vice President Pence announced a five-day cease-fire.

Under the agreement Pence said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan agreed to halt Turkey’s offensive in Syria for 120 hours in order to allow Kurdish YPG forces to evacuate. The agreement will also maintain a “permanent cease-fire” once the evacuation is complete.

Romney added the administration needs to explain what the U.S. role will be moving forward. And the cease-fire, he argued, does not change that the United States "abandoned" the Kurds.

"Adding insult to dishonor, the administration speaks cavalierly, even flippantly, even as our ally has suffered death and casualty," Romney said. "We once abandoned a red line. Now we abandon an ally."

I meant the impact Schwartzenegger had in the GOP as a viable party on the state level. Prior to him there were several GOP governors. After him it not even a question that the dem will win.

Hey, $hithead Romney, are your magic underwear on too tight?

You haven’t got anything down there to damage anyway.

The Kurds in Syria are Maoists and paid mercenaries....the Kurds in Iraq are different.

And why the hell aren’t any of your FIVE sons in the military? Send them over there to Syria and have them fight, you loser!

Now I’m more sure than ever that Trump did the right thing.

You can always tell by the left’s reaction.

It is not up to Trump to define the US role
It is up to Bishop Romney to tell us what he thinks is our military objective in an uninvited unvoted occupation of Syria between multiple warring regional factions

Why are we supporting the party without a country on the world map?
Does it matter that they are hard core leftists aka communists who NATO not just Turkey has designated a terrorist group?
What constitutes “ victory’ and when will we achieve it and how?
When is Congress going to vote on war?

Hey Mitt, I’m sure you do find it disturbing that no American servicemen or Kurdish people will die during the next five days. Hopefully you’ll get through what seems like a period of tribulation for you.

I guess it didn’t dawn on you that this ceasefire was agreed to by the Kurds also.

Will the period of non-violence continue beyond the five days into the future? It may. Brace yourself sukka!

Some of the Kurds are training/arming Antifa
which is one of the Romney-Soros militant arms
of their US sedition/takeover.

The only bloodstain is from Romney’s forehead as he is banging it in the wall from frustration. He is frustrated that his win of his Senate seat did not cue him up for another run for president. The only run Romney should get is on the roof of the Democrat clown car in that dog carrier.

Mitt could always introduce a formal declaration of war vs Syria. That’s his job, after all.

If you are a student of history Mitt you would know that in US history there are a lot of “bloodstains”. However, as bloodstains go, I would judge it to be a .0001.

Your opinion has been noted (and ignored).

Thank you, W. Mitt Romney. I know little about Syria and Turkey, and less about the Kurds. Since Romney is blasting the decision, I am now confident it is a good one.

This ceasefire cedes an area the size of Hawaii’s main island to the Turks. It would be as if, after Pearl Harbor, the US did a ceasefire with Japan that involved moving the entire population of Hawaii and the Pacific Fleet to the mainland. It’s a good deal. For the Ottomans. The Ottomans don’t want to fight anybody. They’d love it if they could get a ceasefire like this for the entire world.
