"""Body camera footage from that night shows Dean, 34, peering through two open doors and walking around the perimeter of the house. He then pointed his weapon at a window and yelled "Put your hands up! Show me your hands!" seconds before he opened fire, striking Jefferson.""" ----

The bad dudes who specialize in home burglaries can be expected to use the words, "Put your hands up! Show me your hands!" when they encounter someone in the house they are burglarizing.

Sorry, but I do not think that anything coming out of CNN is trustworthy. Not only due to politics, but due to the fact that they just do not know how to gather facts and relay them without distortion.

Hopefully, we can get some real journalists (if there are any left) to give us some information on this subject.

I am glad they cleared that up. So, if the officers are sent on an open-structure call, it is OK to kill a person in their own home. I get it now.

This is not a news story.

This is propaganda from Jeff Zucker’s propaganda channel.

Sorry ... still no excuse for this. To borrow a phrase from the past ... the officer acted stupidly.

Oh, wait. So if it’s a burglary call, cops can be forgiven for shooting through a window at an unidentifiable target. That’s nice to know.

One big problem....He never identified himself as a police officer!

The entire situation could have been avoided had he done that. No brainer, bad shoot PERIOD!

Your kidding right?

You are sitting in your home, you live in a bad neighborhood, you grab your gun, and head to the window, someone you don’t know or see screams at you from outside your home to put your hands up and you are just going to comply?

Take your victim blaming over to DU.

Change the narrative to get the cop off, can’t have one of the important people going to jail now, can we?

You don’t sneak up to someone’s house and shoot them dead if they are protecting their home from people sneaking around their home.

The better approach would be to pull your car in front, turn on your lights and call the residence to see if they are all right. At least that way the homeowner can clearly identify the police car and determine there is no threat. If it’s a bad guy then you make sure to watch the perimeter and put your donut down and be prepared to pursue a fleeing person, people don’t generally flee for no good reason. It doesn’t mean shoot the fleeing person, you apprehend that person.

On one of the Joe Kenda programs, the police yelled “police” in every room they entered. Did this police officer even yell it once?

"yelled "Put your hands up! Show me your hands!" seconds before he opened fire, striking Jefferson."

It looked to me like he shot before the words were completely out of his mouth. Certainly there was not "seconds" between the shout and the shoots

Sooo, you are on a possible burglary call and some unknown Negro points a gun at you. What do you do? Shoot first or not? This isn’t “murder.” Accidental homicide maybe. But justifiable.

Can’t trust the news. whatever happened to shining a spotlight on the open door from the safety of the squad car? Let whomever is in the house know you are there before sneaking around the home yelling in windows and pointing a gun at anyone.

Only a reckless idiot shoots before identifying the target. This fool needs to sit in prison for 50 years. We didn’t even shoot at the VC until we identified everyone in the field of fire.

As I have cautioned on other threads, FREEPERS should always remember the two Golden Rules of police shootings involving blacks: 1) The media always DISTORTS or LIES to make the officer look worse and the black person look better; 2) The civil rights “lawyers” ALWAYS lie about the facts. Another perfect example. The police on scene suspected a burglary in progress. In fact, not one but TWO neighbors suspected foul play, as the one neighbor contacted the other neighbor (her brother) who contacted police. BTW, the little bit of the inside of the house that I saw looked like it had been ransacked (it wasn’t, but the cops would logically assume that it was by all the stuff that was scattered all over). And the 8 year old nephew gave a statement (videotaped) that the victim was pointing a handgun at the window where the officer shot. Let me reiterate: I do not believe the victim was at fault and I am not blaming her. However, I think it is highly questionable that the police officer committed a crime. We call what happened: negligence—at best.

Sounds like the lady complied to the instruction. Unfortunately for her, she had a gun in her hand.

I spent 25 years responding to calls with the police. Most are pretty good guys, but there are quite a few who are idiots.

We showed up on a call where a drunk and stoned black woman wouldn't stop bothering her neighbors. She was in the neighbor's apartment and refused to leave. My crew and I finally got her calmed down and out of the neighbor's apartment and were walking her back to her place to sleep it off when she went berserk again. She punched me in the eye and bit one of my crew members.

So I called our communications center on the radio and told them we were going to need police assistance. They didn't want to leave the donut shop, so after ten minutes our communicators called back and asked why we needed them. I replied that she had punched me in the eye for no reason and that we couldn't get her to stay settled down.

A couple cops finally showed up by the time our “patient” started behaving herself again. They were giving me a ration of crap and not keeping an eye on her, when the black lady went full on crazy and started attacking them. She got away and locked herself in her own apartment. About half a dozen more police cars showed up almost instantaneously and it took half a dozen police to wrestle her into the back of one of their cars.

After that it was all comedy for us. They finally broke her door down and it took six of them to wrestle her into the back of one of their cars. But then they decided that she needed an ambulance to take her to the hospital to make sure there was nothing seriously wrong with her before locking her up. It was there way of giving us back the hot potato. So we had to get her back out of the police car, and our protocol doesn't allow us to transport people with handcuffs on. So we had to strap her to a gurney and transport her, fortunately the paramedics were given permission to give her something that took the fight out of her.

I tell all that because the whole time this whacked out woman was running around her apartment making all sorts of noise and screaming, the police had surrounded the place and had a bunch of guns out. Just one trigger happy cop and we all would have been on the national news for “murdering” an innocent black woman.
