crash death after Donald Trump dropped the "bombshell" that she was in the room next door at the White House.
Charlotte Charles and Tim Dunn felt "a little ambushed" by the offer made by the US president.
Anne Sacoolas, 42, returned to the United States days after the crash which killed 19-year-old Harry.
Harry's parents said they wanted to meet Mrs Sacoolas in the UK.
Mr Dunn said a White House official told them she would not be returning to the UK, but Mr Trump said he would "try to push this from a different angle".

The Dunns have made this political — exactly why there is diplomatic immunity.
Yes he did because the UK is famous for conducting an inquest by the local coroner and holding the person for legal prosecution.
If the parents could invite to the UK, and the person goes as a matter of good will, the UK local legal officials would arrest the American after the inquest hearing.
Gulf War I, A-10 pilot had a friendly on friendly incident and the local coroner and others wanted the pilot to return to the UK take take part in the inquest (then detain for prosecution).
Gawd luv the Brits. I do, but they need to stop this.
I agree.
They turned down meeting with the woman when she was right there in the next room, demanding to only meet her in the U.K.? Whoa. Right there that tells me they just want HER blood, her money, or both; to avenge for losing their son. Or maybe they see is as their ticket to fame. Who knows.
This was just a very sad accident. I previously had sympathy for them, but now they come across as annoying irritants positioning for some kind of payoff.
I’m pretty confused here. What was Sacoolas doing at the WH?
Put up signs near US bases warning American drivers to be on the correct side of the road.
>>Mr Dunn said the trip to the White House “didn’t feel like a stunt”.
>>”I think the president was very graceful and spoke very well to us,” he said
How about arrows painted on the road, the US military can fund it as a good will gesture. Most of the Anglosphere drive on the right maybe GB should consider it.
I understand she forgot what side of the road she was supposed to be on. But she was still in the wrong, accident or not. Just saying ‘sorry’ doesn’t cut it. She deserves some sort of punishment.
According to reports, Sacoolas is a mother - I don’t think she’s setting a very good example for her child (children).
This would be a non story on this side of the Atlantic had the kenyan still been in his White Hut. But with Trump involved now it will no doubt be used to attack him.
The most truthful information is usually found at the bottom of an article:
Mr Dunn said the trip to the White House “didn’t feel like a stunt”.
“I think the president was very graceful and spoke very well to us,” he said.
“I genuinely do think he will look to resolve this in a way that will help us.”
Should we paint arrows on our streets as a good will gesture to UK diplomats too stupid to know the local rules of the road?
And what is wrong with them wanting her to answer for killing their son?
This was just a very sad accident.
Was it an accident? Or was it negligence which resulted in the death of the motorcyclist?
“I think they want some accountability”
“And what is wrong with them wanting her to answer for killing their son?”
“Was it an accident? Or was it negligence which resulted in the death of the motorcyclist”
I agree. If subjecting her to punishment in England is the issue, then punish her here. At the very least, she should be fined, and the money sent to the town or city where it occurred, given community service, and pay some sort of restitution to the family along with an apology.
She didn't break the law here. Our courts have no jurisdiction over British traffic offenses.
This could be used to set a precedent for diplomats and their families.
Agreed, there is a reason for Diplomatic Immunity and President Trump is in charge of Foreign Affairs as the Executive.
The Brit Government has already proved they are a bunch of backstabbing opportunists, and should get zero diplomatic latitude.
Trump did them a favor.
She has diplomatic immunity.
If we bend the law for this case, should we bend it for other cases also?
